At a later date the original etching was used to create this lithograph, hence the very low pre-sale estimates. This edition was authorized by Klee shortly before his death in 1940 but delayed by World War II until after the war. It was printed under the immediate supervision of Klee's son, Felix Paul Klee (1907-1990), a prominent art historian and later the director of the Paul Klee Foundation.
