Comment(s): Rare in this large format. Only one auction sale located in the past 28 years (an unsigned impression). The medium format (also rare) has sold at auction as high as $7,138 (Millon & Associes, Paris, March 22, 2013, lot #252). Sometimes referenced as an offset lithograph, our example is a “stone” lithograph, consistent with the practice of the printer during this time period. The image was used for three posters, the large and medium versions being printed for the Castelli exhibition, the smaller for the Metropolitan Museum (the owner of the painting). Doering/Von der Osten states that "the poster was also printed in smaller format" by which he means the medium version, identical to the large version but smaller. Published by Leo Castelli Gallery.
